Himalayan Heathgrass is a perennial grass with stems upto 45 cm tall. Leaf blade is involute, 15-30 cm x 1.5-2 mm. Flower panicles are contracted, lanceshaped, 2-9 cm x 0.5-1 mm. Spikelets are solitary; wedge-shaped, laterally compressed, 1.2-2.5 cm long. Fertile spikelets are stalked, flower-stalks fringed with hairs; glumes similar; lemma 7-9-nerved, lanceshaped, 1-1.4 cm long, tip bifid, awned; palea winged, 2-keeled. Stamens 3. Himalayan Heathgrass is found in West Himalaya.
